After waking up at 7 a.m. to get breakfast, our group got in the car and drove to the Frasassi Caves (Grotte di Frasassi)! It was so crazy to be around something so magical looking. Something that stood out to me was when the tour guide said being in the caves and having nothing outside to compare things to, our perceptions of things can be off. For example, she said look at the wall over there, it looks close, but is actually the same distance away from us as a football field. And that the rock on the wall looked tiny, but was actually as tall as a person. These caves reminded me of the Ape Caves in Mount St. Helens, but we’re much bigger. I definitely recommend going.
Travel tip: There are different tours for different languages so make sure you get on the right one when buying tickets. Also, you are not allowed to take pictures in the first room because they want to make money. There is a photo-op in the first room, but in the other six rooms you can take pictures.
